If you’re new to the idea of selling on auction sites like eBay then you have a steep learning curve ahead of you. The first thing that you need to do is work out what sells on eBay. There are so many different options that it can be confusing.

Before you can hope to sell anything you first have to understand your customers. Try and get into the minds of your customers and work out why it is they are buying things on the internet.

Think about yourself, why do you ever buy products? You will either buy something because it solves a problem you are experiencing or makes things more pleasurable. There are all kinds of different problems you can solve; it just means that it’s important to sell products that people really want rather than junk novelty products.

What Sells on eBay

When working out what sells on eBay you should take a look at what sells at the moment. This is easier than you might imagine and shouldn’t take long. Just thinking about the popular products at the moment should be a great place to start. iPods, iPhones and basically anything electrical is very popular on eBay.

Cameras and lenses are also popular items. You might also find it easy to sell accessories like headphones and paper.

Electronics aren’t the only things which are popular on auction sites. Books are also wonderful things to sell on the sites. If you have a collection of books then you can list these. If you managed to get your hands on books from a particular author then you will be able to sell these fairly easily.

Even old videos on VHS cassette tapes have a value on eBay. Literally anything that you have around your house already can be listed and sold on auction sites.

There is also an opportunity to sell DVD’s on auction sites. You do need to be selective about the movies that you list. There are many different movies out there and you will stand a much better chance if you list popular movies. Listing the latest releases will normally ensure that this is possible. However sourcing the latest DVD’s can be very difficult.

Bags

Something else which sells really well on eBay are bags, handbags and purses. These accessories are fantastic and can be sold alongside all sorts of other clothing and related accessories.

Popular Items

When choosing items to sell on eBay you might find it easy to stick to a product from one of the three groups listed below:

- Films – DVD’s, VHS or BluRay are all popular on eBay
- Electrical Goods
- MP3 players and phones are all extremely popular items
- Clothing – Bags, clothes, anything that you think might be popular

Never think that making money on eBay is an effortless way to make money. You do need to invest plenty of your time and energy into making your new business venture successful.
